Our Story
I was raised in North Carolina and moved to Houston to start high school. I went to Jersey Village all four years. I played basketball with NBA dreams all my life until sophomore year. This is when I started cutting hair and realized that I wanted to make money rather than play basketball.
I watched Youtube videos and practiced cutting my dad’s hair for months. Then I started telling my classmates to give me a chance. I built my clientele quickly and within 2 years, my prices went from $15 to $40 doing 30+ haircuts per week while still in high school.
Before graduating, I had enrolled for college courses at UHD but my success in barbering motivated me to open my own barbershop.
Today, I own 2 barbershops and charge $55+ for haircuts and I’m not stopping here!

Our Story
Born and raised in Houston, Texas. Class of 2021 graduating from Klein Forest High School. I resold and restored shoes throughout high school. My first real job was a cabin cleaner at the airport. I went straight to Lone Star Community College after high school to major in business. Looked deeper into the business aspect and looked for a professional job for myself. Tried accounting, but I just couldn't see myself working in an office. Kept researching to find a career I would enjoy, and came across barbering.
Began watching YouTube videos & got my hands on some clippers. Told myself that I was going to take a risk, finished my first semester of college and enrolled into barber school in February 2022.
That’s when I met Erik, he was like my mentor I’d say. I started doing free haircuts to better my craft and grow my clientele. Got a bit busy about 2 months in started charging $10. We both finished barber school within 5 months, opened Next Up Barber Studio July 31st of 2022. Worked long hours & focused on marketing myself.
Today, I am a 6 figure barber charging $45+ for haircuts fully booked out a week in advance. All within 2 years of experience. God is Good, only up from here!
